We had three teams with a total of 11 players. The event was very intense and somewhat nerve-wrecking however all of us girls kept it together really well to secure yet another double BUCS victory, winning both the team event and singles event!!

 

All three of our teams made it to the quarter finals where OXFORD 3^rd was unfortunate enough to be drawn against Warwick 1^st, the team that carried on to play OXFORD 1^st in the finals. OXFORD 2^nd made it to the semi-finals only to be knocked out by their own OXFORD 1^st. OXFORD 1^st swiftly took the win against Warwick 1^st in the finals, making OXFORD the team champions for the 5^th year in a row!   

 

In the singles championship events, 4 of our girls, Jojo, Louisa, Ceri and Rachael made it into the quarterfinals. Jojo played Louisa in the semi-finals for a spot in the finals, and Louisa took the opportunity winning 3-1. Louisa’s last couple of frames against Kate Hillman (Cambridge 1^st captain) in the finals involved possibly the most amazing tactical shots played at that entire event. Oxford members looked on nervously as Louisa kept her nerve and Kate lost hers. Louisa showed great strength and pulled off a close 4-3 win!
