Uni 23 Old Girls 22
Starting last year, the Varsity Squad has introduced a yearly fixture, where members of varsity squads from the past return to Oxford in order to see how they fare against the new top players at Oxford University. This year the event took place in parallel with the Old Boys match. Click here for their match report.
This year the competition was played in three frame, one on one format, where each of the five returning players would take on an individual from the home squad for three frames. Each of the five away players played 3 sets of 3.

In the first leg of the day's competition, it was the current varisty players who took an early lead of 10-5. Alex LaVia making a noteworthy 3-0 defeat against her opponent. For the away side this was an ominous start, and they set about reversing their fortunes in the next leg. County Captain Shelley proved too experienced, taking her opponent 3-0, but this was soon to be quashed by Amy Holland, a new varsity player, who took to the table to return the favour with a 3/3 for the home side. This was enough to even out the second leg score: result 7-8. The Old Girls took to the third with a 4 frame deficit to make up. It was getting nail-bitingly close after another 3-0 by Shelley, but Alex LaVia claimed her second 3-0 of the day in response, leaving the home side needing only one frame of the final six. Surely they couldn't be caught now. The current squad seemed eager to give the away team chance after chance however, and it was brought down to the wire. Victory finally going to the uni squad with a one frame win by Flora! 23-22 Phew!
